NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

My heart aches for the innocent lives lost in the recent school shooting, as well as the troubled boy who committed this horrific act.

With the recent shootings, drug busts, news articles of our corrupt society, it is obvious that evil, (Satan) dwells in our world and community. The news touches all of our lives, in some way.

The Bible says that Satan is a fallen angel who is crafty, deceiving and full of temptation; therefore, we must replenish our soul and minds with the word of the Holy Spirit daily.

I know that it is a challenge to put God first in today’s world, but I also know that if we make Him last, we will lose hope for tomorrow.

I believe the Bible is a book of reference that gives us directions for living an eternal life. In Corinthians, the message explains why some people cannot see or understand the word of God: “The man without a spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

God is our positive hope in a world of trouble. I pray that people will read this message and make an effort to support and attend Vision Ministries of Lawrence County at the Mohawk High School auditorium at 3 p.m. Jan. 12.

This is a free event, led by pastor and evangelist Randy Lee Crum. His spirit is on fire for God and his message will be one that people will remember. I encourage people to go and enjoy music, speakers and a message of hope for our community. It all starts with people acting upon an opportunity. They shouldn’t let this one go by.

The ministry’s Facebook page is visionministriesoflawrencecountypa.
