Editor, The News:
This is about the configuration of the consolidation of the voting precincts in the city of New Castle, and the political enigmatic activities of incumbents.
First let me label the various entities: You have the Lawrence County commissioners, the Election Board, committees A and B and Judge Dominick Motto.
Committee A (the commissioners) asks the election board to consolidate the voting precincts. Now, the election board is actually the county commissioners. Later (because of the county government study question), committee A forms committee B to take its place.
Committee B does the consolidation and then turns the plans over to Motto for approval, washing its hands of responsibility. Now the judge has no way of knowing or the resources to examine the plans as to their worthiness.
However, the judge approves the plans of committee B. The plans are now sent on to the state for approval.
The state also knows not as to the worthiness of the plans, but just rubber stamps their approval.
The election is over and the commissioners take back their responsibilities as the board of elections.
The commissioners, like Pontius Pilate, accept no responsibilities for the actions of committee B and also, like Pontius Pilate, the judge washes his hands as well.
In this case it was the voters who were crucified.
