Lost officer provided much to community

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

Officer Jerry. That was what we called him at our LCARF meetings.

May 2 I will always remember. I will always remember exactly what I was doing at the precise time he died.

I lost a wonderful friend. The animals of Lawrence County lost their best friend and the residents of this county lost their finest servant.

He bought food for animals out of his own pocket. He learned all about horses to help people who acquired horses but didn’t know how to take care of them.

His decency and humanity were unsurpassed.

I have lost 50 relatives and friends in my life. You acquire a degree of callousness; maybe it’s a coping mechanism.

But Officer Jerry’s death broke my heart.

Would you want to know what your pet is thinking about you?

Yes! I'd love to know what my pet is thinking.
Nah, it's probably not that interesting.
I don't know. I'm afraid of what I might find out.
