Critic’s letter committed the identical offenses

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

On May 3, a letter by Matthew Finamore was published.

His letter was a rant from opening to finish against Joseph Waltenbaugh’s letter of April 11. Finamore also blamed The News for printing Waltenbaugh’s letter.

I saw no difference in either letter, having read them both. He classified Waltenbaugh as an ignorant, hateful bigot, language in my opinion just as ignorant, hateful and bigoted as how he assessed Waltenbaugh. Well, if this is Finamore’s belief, maybe The News should not have printed his letter, either.

These letters are opinions, including mine. People shouldn’t blame The News, calling it irresponsible. It seems to have understood its role as a newspaper. I don’t think Finamore did.

Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended five games for sucker punching Pittsburgh’s Travis Snider during a bench clearing brawl on Sunday. You OK with that suspension?

Yes. Seems fair.
No. Baseball NEVER gets it right in these situations. Should have been at least 20 games for his sucker punch into a pile of players.
Not sure, but I’d love to see baseball be like hockey and allow two guys to fight for a while before breaking it up. Let’s see how tough Maldonado is then.
