NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
We have a caring community in Hillsville, Mahoning Township.
It’s been three years since the defunct Baptist and Town Cemetery has been cared for.
We, the former caretakers (2005-2010), had to reluctantly give it up because of health problems. We went through channels to see if someone would take over without success.
We now have more caring people to carry on. The Johnson Club in Hillsville has graciously brought in Tanner Lawn Service to clean up and mow the grass. We now can see the tombstones of our veterans and other township residents who are laid to rest in this cemetery.
On behalf of our community, we want to express our appreciation to the Johnson Club of Hillsville for caring for our community to beautify this old cemetery.
Now we can walk through the cemetery once again and pay our respects to the veterans and hope to see our American flags flying by their tombstones again. Also family members can walk through and place flowers on the graves of their relatives and friends. It will look beautiful again.
