NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

On behalf of the committee running the Officer Jerry McCarthy/Anthony Cioffi fundraising golf scramble held at Sylvan Heights course Saturday, Aug. 31, we would like to express our appreciation to so many wonderful people for making this event a huge success.

We wish to acknowledge News sports editor Kayleen Cubbal and her staff for the exposure that was given to promote the event. The Sylvan Heights course was in fantastic condition as many compliments were given by golfers who played in the event.

John Dado and his staff were on hand to address the needs of the golfers. Bud Fuller and his staff added that professional touch to insure the display that the course had to offer.

We wish to recognize the many volunteers who assisted in the needs to run the event. These varied from preparing the dinner following the event to providing cool beverages to the golfers as the event was progressing.

Special appreciation goes out to the generous business owners of New Castle and the surrounding area for their many donations that made this a success.

Once again, the people of New Castle stepped up efforts to make this event a huge success. We on the committee want to express our gratitude to those who joined our team and made this event exceed all of our expectations.

The city of New Castle and the surrounding areas showed their class in a way that makes us who we are, proud members of a great community.
