NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
In the last presidential election, 54 percent of “Catholics” voted for the Obama/Biden ticket.
There is no way one can vote for a ticket that supports abortion and homosexual marriage and call oneself a Catholic.
You are not following Christ. You are not Catholic. These are listed as intrinsic evils by the Catholic Church and can never be supported. If you support a candidate, whether they be Republican or Democrat, who supports these evils, you are a Catholic in name only.
I can describe myself as a 5-foot-10-inch, blonde-hair, blue-eyed, 100-pound supermodel, but those who know me do not recognize the person I just described as me. Likewise, you cannot support politicians who defend and support abortion and homosexual marriage and say you are a Catholic.
The Catholics who are voting following the bishops’ faithful citizen guidelines and following their faith in Christ do not recognize you. The website wwwfaithfulcitizenship.org is the website put out by the U.S. Catholic bishops to help Catholics form their conscience in accordance with the truth.
Any denomination sliced from the Christian pie, whether it be Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc., cannot call itself Christian and vote for the Obama/Biden ticket. It is a vote against Christ.
