NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
I want to acknowledge all the emergency personnel for the quick and caring response to the house fire at 622 Wayne Ave. in Ellwood City.
It is because of well-trained fire and police that no life was lost and no other homes were severely damaged when this fire consumed this historical house Feb. 19.
Special recognition goes to the Ellwood City Police Department, Lt. David Kingston and Patrolman John Lubich, Ellwood City Fire Chief Rick Myers and the courageous volunteer firefighters who were on the scene immediately, including those from Chewton, Zelienople, Wurtemburg-Perry, North Sewickley, Franklin, Shenango and Wayne.
It takes a special kind of person to put his life in danger to save the lives and properties of people unknown to him. All of these individuals are very special in my eyes, and we are blessed to have each and every one of them in our communities to protect us.
Anthony Court,
mayor,
Ellwood City
