Editor, the News:
I recently attended my aunt’s funeral and stopped into Hazel’s Restaurant to get coffee and something to eat.
I did not have time to eat in the morning and was afraid my blood sugar would drop. Feeling sad about my aunt, I just wanted to sit and reflect.
When I looked into my wallet, I saw that I had enough money only for a cup of coffee. I had to borrow money to be able to buy gas to drive to New Castle to say good-bye to my aunt.
Now, I did not have money to buy a piece of toast.
I never was in Hazel’s before, but as soon as I walked in, everyone was so friendly. When the server, Angie, asked what I wanted to order, I just mentioned that I had only enough money for coffee.
She said that I could order whatever I wanted and she would take care of it. I started to cry.
I am so used to taking care of myself and others and am not used to anyone, especially a stranger, being so kind to me.
I have been struggling financially for years and it is not getting any better. I’ve had people and friends take advantage of me.
That old saying about “the kindness of strangers” is true. Angie is a very kind and gentle woman. I wanted to acknowledge her for her wonderful act of kindness toward me.
In this world of greed, there are still people who are kind and giving. Angie is a special person who has a heart of gold. May God grant her lots of blessings.
I will never forget her kindness toward me.

There is much to appreciate in what community offers
The other day we were running around, and I thought how great the road system in this county is. You can go anywhere and everywhere all for free. We passed stores that were packed with all the things you need, and at reasonable prices. There are restaurants and theaters all around, and no end of free things you can do.
