NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
Would you please warn Joseph Waltenbaugh that someone is writing nonsensical letters to The News and attaching his name to them?
The last time I wrote The News was to call our former congressman Jason Altmire for being a shill for the insurance lobby. He is now baking in the sunshine down in Florida, an executive for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Go figure.
In regard to Waltenbaugh: I am a liberal and I’m not ashamed to say so.
I supported Altmire when he was a candidate for his first term, but when he voted against a principle I believe in, I came out against him.
I don’t expect perfection from my government or its elected officials, but I certainly would not label them as Nazis or my government as totalitarian.
Is it a perfect system? Of course not. But it’s the best system created by imperfect human beings who attempted to establish the most free society ever known to man.
Waltenbaugh needs to tone down the rhetoric and come forth with some viable solutions. Degrading those who disagree with him is not a good start.
Finally, Waltenbaugh should visit Arlington Cemetery and he will see death in the service of our country does not distinguish between rich and poor, black or white or liberal and conservative.
They all lie there so he is able to write his diatribe without some Nazi knocking on his door in the middle of the night.
To paraphrase the late Robert Kennedy, “I will fight for his right to be wrong.”
I can’t wait to hear his comments on health care, taxes and gun control. News at eleven.
