Pledge has meaning for real Americans

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

I found the column by John Crisp (May 1) and his rather cavalier attitude about the Pledge of Allegiance very disturbing.

As a child during the war years of the 1940s, we spent every waking moment being aware when we said it (without God) what it meant. It was not just lip service.

Now, we are all about I and me, stand your ground, states’ rights, without recognizing anyone else’s rights.

When the states were created and accepted, they had to pledge their loyalty to the union. Do they want to go back to being territories?

Our federal government has created everything that is good in this country. Those who keep trying to undo for their own profit need to be recognized.

Would you want to know what your pet is thinking about you?

Yes! I'd love to know what my pet is thinking.
Nah, it's probably not that interesting.
I don't know. I'm afraid of what I might find out.
