Good Samaritan shows proof of good news

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

At a time when so much of the news we hear is negative, I have a very positive item to report.

While running several errands recently, I discovered that I had left my purse in a shopping cart at a local drugstore.

Filled with fear and panic, I raced back to the store, only to be told by a clerk that another lady shopper saw my purse in the cart where I left it and immediately returned it to the store manager.

This unknown Good Samaritan did not leave her name so that she could be rewarded.

Whomever she might be, she certainly has my heartfelt gratitude, and her act helps to prove that there truly are good people, and good news, in New Castle.

Beginning tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the NHL playoffs. So, who ya got? And in how many games?

Penguins, in five games or fewer. Too much firepower for the Blue Jackets, especially if Evgeni Malkin is ready to go.
Penguins, in six or seven games. It’s a pretty even matchup on defense, but Pittsburgh will grind it out.
Blue Jackets, in five games or fewer. Sergei Bobrovsky in goal for the Blue Jackets spells trouble for the Pens.
Blue Jackets, in six or seven games. Bobrovsky gives Columbus the edge, but it won’t be easy.
