NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
Scripture says be sure your sin will find you out. How true (Numbers 32:23).
Let’s look at a man called Achan in the Book of Joshua. As Israel entered the promised land, Jericho was the first walled city to defeat. They were told keep yourselves from the accursed thing. Silver, gold, vessels of brass and iron are to be put into the treasury.
Achan thought he could get away with taking some things. He buried the things in his tent. The Lord sees everything. His whole family paid dearly. They were stoned and burned. Read Joshua Chapter 7.
Same thing today. One person’s sin affects the whole family.
Surely the Lord sees the Achans in the churches today. For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known (Luke 12:2).
Jesus went into the temple (today it’s called the church) cast out all who sold and bought in the temple, turned over the tables of money changers. He said it is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer; but you made it a den of thieves (Matthew 21:12-13.)
Thank God for his mercy, (Isaiah said 1:18). Come now let us reason together, saith the Lord: Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
For by grace are we saved through faith it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began (II Timothy 1:9).
