Church group gears up for renewed soup sales

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

Is everybody out there still hungry for soup from the Shenango Presbyterian Church on Wilmington Road?

I hope so, because it won’t be long now.

Bruce and the team of Nancy, Shirley, Betty, Beth, Cynthia, Jim, Bob and Ken will be starting back up on Sept. 30 for the first big sale of the season, which will be Oct. 4 and 5.

We will have chili, stuffed pepper, vegetable beef, cheesy bacon potato and of course, chicken noodle.

The price will still be $6 a quart. Those interested in placing an order ahead of time can call Linda at the church office, (724) 654-2322, to do so.

People shouldn’t wait too long to order, because it all sells out very quickly.

All of us on the soup team are looking forward to seeing our customers again. We appreciate them for waiting.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
