NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

As president of the Lawrence County Animal Relief Fund, I wanted to express appreciation to everyone who was involved in making our fundraising dance at Cascade Park on Sept. 13 the most successful yet.

Special recognition goes to Jim Lombardo and the Dorals for donating their time, and coming through in the clutch to get a substitute drummer less than three hours before the dance. They are a fantastic group.

Our vice president, Marilyn Cook, worked very hard to put this together and deserves a note of gratitude.

Dave Gettings, our county controller, even pitched in as a guest vocalist with the Dorals.

Of course, all of those who went for a great night of dancing to the oldies in support of our organization must be acknowledged as well.

There are many others who were involved — the businesses that let us put up signs and posters, those who made or donated food and other desserts and our volunteers. Quite a few people in the community came together to support our cause and we appreciate them all.

Those who are unfamiliar with our organization can check us out at
