Editor, The News:
It’s only common sense.
One cannot sustain spending more money than one takes in. However, that point is lost with our president, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and House Speaker John Boehner.
All were recently quoted as stating that our government does not have a spending problem. The Senate passed an unbalanced budget with no spending cuts, but a $1.2 trillion increase in taxes.
President Obama has been late submitting his budget the last four years, thus ignoring the law requiring him to submit his budget on time.
However, give him credit, he has submitted his Final Four brackets for March Madness on time over the past five years. At least his priorities are in order.
We voted these leaders into office, so they must be right. We gave them a credit card with no limit. We enabled them to ring up a debt to the tune of $16.7 trillion. Why stop spending now? There is no problem, so let’s follow their lead.
Let’s all take our credit cards and go on a spending spree. Let’s max them out. Let’s spend some of the money on stuff we really don’t need, like studying the reproductive practices of snails.
Why worry about the debt? It’s not a problem, at least not for now. Let someone else worry about the bill payments to China.
What? You say that you can’t do that because you have a responsibility to your family, your home, and your children’s’ future. Sounds like common sense to me. Let’s use that same common sense and vote responsible leaders into office in the next election.
