NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
Sen. Chuck Hagel for secretary of defense was nominated by President Obama and endorsed by the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Hagel is a decorated war veteran and also served as a United States Senator from Nebraska.
During the nominating process, Sen. John McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham came out against the nomination. Their concerns were Hagel’s comments concerning Israel and the Jewish lobby. The other concerns were gay rights and Iran.
Their next move was the filibuster, which the Republicans so far were successful. This is the first time in the history of our country that a presidential nominee for secretary of defense has been filibustered.
We as Americans, no matter of party affiliation, should be outraged that these U.S. senators are placing their loyalty and concerns of Israel over the United States of America. Let’s not be fooled by the power of the Jewish lobby (APAC).
Everything that I have read concerning Hagel confirmed my support for him as United States Secretary of Defense.
In closing, Hagel is one man I would jump into a foxhole with and feel secure.
