New Castle negativity is justified by events

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

In a recent news article, a group that is trying to promote the city states it doesn’t understand why so many people have a negative attitude about New Castle.

Let’s see, where should I start? How about the New Castle school system? How many times in the past have there been employees of the district who were actually convicted of being involved in some sort of criminal activity, yet none of them were ever fired?

In fact, like clockwork, there were letters to the editor telling us what a “great guy” so and so is.

Ditto with past New Castle school boards. Going back 20 or 30 years there were a few members caught in illegal acts of sorts, yet none of them ever resigned or was removed. Great influence for the kids, huh?

Now, let’s talk about the city itself. If New Castle is so financially distressed, why haven’t any city employees been laid off? No, we won’t trim the workforce, we’ll just keep raising taxes and drive more people away.

It would probably take the entire editorial page to get into Gary Felasco, the housing authority scandal and the other questionable things that have occurred around here.

It’s the same old politics, the same old nepotism, the same old everything. And folks don’t understand why most of the population has a negative attitude about New Castle?
