Act of kindness shows existence of Santa

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

Who says Santa Claus doesn’t exist?

A friend of mine, Randy Scialabba, whom I work with at Verizon, exhibited such kindness.

A friend of his daughter’s from Slippery Rock University damaged her car to the tune of about $3,000 to $4,000.

Randy and his son volunteered to do the repairs for her, involving just the cost of parts. In other words, free labor.

Randy was aware of the fact that the girl had very little financially and obviously was needy. He and his son repaired the car in about a week’s time for a fraction of what an insurance claim would have cost her.

The family offered to pay them for their services, but they refused any compensation for their efforts.

Randy and his son showed me there is much more to Christmas than just the exchanging of gifts. It is the true spirit of the season.

People truly caring about other people, even when they don’t even know each other.

I couldn’t think of a better gift one person could give to another. So I ask you again, who says Santa Claus doesn’t exist?
