Tea Party activists have selective memory

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

In true Tea Party form, Judith Panella Martwinski wrote a duplicitous relation between Gov. Chris Christie, President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. (Jan. 24).

If Martwinski wants to deflect from Christie and tie it in to Benghazi, she should responsibly throw Ronald Reagan into the conversation.

Martwinski fails to mention how Reagan cut and ran in Beirut 1983 where 241 American soldiers perished. Reagan’s response on Oct. 23, 1983, was, “There are no words to properly express our outrage.” No mention of terrorism.

Did you ever notice, the Tea Partiers are not at all upset with those who actually murdered our diplomat?

Tea Partiers never mention when Republicans cut the administration’s request for embassy security funding by $128 million in 2011 and $331 million in 2012.

Q. Who in their right mind would cut funding for security?

A. The Tea Partiers who oppose anything the president proposes.

Martwinski fails to mention our consulate and embassy attacks during the Bush administration: Jan. 22, 2002 — Kolkata, five killed; June 14, 2002 — Karachi, 12 killed; Feb. 28, 2003 — Islamabad, two killed; June 30, 2004 — Tashkent, two killed; Dec. 6, 2004 — Saudi Arabia, nine killed; March 2, 2006 — Karachi, two killed; Sept. 12, 2006 — Syria, four killed; March 18, 2008 — Yemen, two killed; July 9, 2008 — Istanbul, six killed; Sept. 17, 2008 — Yemen, 16 killed.

Sixty total deaths and zero outraged Tea Partiers.

Would Martwinski have called for the impeachment of Reagan and Bush for their negligence? I think I know what the answer would be, a big fat no.
