Treatment of veterans is disgrace to nation

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

What is or has been happening in the Veterans Affairs Department is, to me, a national disgrace and a slap in the face to all veterans who served honorably.

And it, in my opinion, dishonors the flag.

I am not a veteran. However, I respect those who served this great country.

My brother is a Vietnam veteran who received a letter of commendation from President Nixon, and who still serves the flag as an instructor at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, Okla.

If the recruiters are having trouble getting volunteers, consider the problems at the VA.

Will Rogers Jr. said, “You had better take care of your veterans, because you don’t know when you are going to need them again.”
