Editor, The News:
A recent letter writer (May 20) made me chuckle when I read that he was puzzled that President Obama’s approval rating was low. Let me list a few reasons:
•The IRS targeting of conservative groups. Illegal.
•Benghazi, the failure to protect, plus made changes to the talking points.
•Due to his policies, he is intentionally bankrupting the coal industry.
•He illegally ended the welfare-to-work requirements passed by Congress and Bill Clinton.
•Solyndra. The taxpayers lost billions when many “green” companies went bankrupt. Also the administration pressured Solyndra to delay layoffs until after the 2010 midterm elections.
•Attacked Libya without congressional approval. Impeachable offense?
•While in France, described the U.S. as “arrogant” and dismissive.
•Signed Obamacare, an intrusive bill that increases federal control of our personal lives. Obama campaigned in 2008 that he would never force people to buy health insurance. A deliberate fabrication of the truth. I cannot imagine an America where the government forces businesses to violate their faith by endorsing behavior they consider sinful.
•Seven trillion in new debt under Obama, after he campaigned to decrease the debt.
•Ignores federal immigration laws. Impeachable?
•He gave out over 1,200 waivers to politically connected donors exempting them from Obamacare.
•While in office, America’s credit was downgraded for the first time in history, due to his poor economic policies.
•Vowed to end lobbyists, but under his watch their influence has increase.
•“Cash for clunkers” scandal. It failed miserably, actually hurting poor people by creating a shortage of used vehicles.
•Veterans Affairs scandal, which in 2008, he campaigned to fix and criticized Bush for the problems, then did nothing for the past six years to fix it.
Accountability and leadership do not exist with this president. Result: very low ratings.

Patriotic attire rule offends veteran
Editor, The News: On July 2, as I was checking out of our local Wal-Mart, something happened that disturbed me. A cashier went to the cashier in my lane and said orders had come down from the store manager that no one was allowed to wear any patriotic shirts, pins, symbols or anything showing patriotic colors from July 4 to July 11.
