Volunteers promoted tourism in the county

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

The Lawrence County Tourist Promotion Agency recently observed its anniversary honoring many of those who helped to form the group.

The agency actually began as a committee of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce with Joanne and Ray George from the George Ku bus company co-chairing the committee. They worked and gave tirelessly to lead the committee on “farm tours” and reaching out to the state for monetary support and travel information for our region.

They did all this as volunteers, laying the ground work for the agency that exists today.
