Why does Wilmington keep raising taxes?

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

It’s with the utmost regret that I find myself addressing the out-of-control Wilmington school district.

Raising taxes twice in three years and not having the courage to bring these increases to the voters. Would that be because the school board knows they would not be approved? And then they would have to face making difficult decisions.

Would I be wrong to suggest that after spending all of the district’s reserve funds this year and still not balancing the budget without a huge tax increase, then perhaps the budget really is broken?

What will the plan be going forward next year? Again I would suggest that there isn’t a plan. Just to continue to tax and spend and spend.

Why and how could the other districts be able to not raise taxes and also upgrade their schools yet we cannot? Most likely because of better planning and better management.

If the present attitude doesn’t change, then maybe there should be a change in some of our elected school board officials.

It’s well past time for dissatisfied Wilmington Township residents to speak up and be heard.

When you have the highest tax rate, who will want to invest or relocate to our area?
