NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
Joseph K. Waltenbaugh is becoming well known for his acerbic letters to the editor. With his letter of Dec. 15, he has outdone himself.
He is absolutely wrong in contending that the Republicans did not lose the recent election because of their “wrong stance on women and Hispanic issues.” The Republican Party is scrambling to determine how it can woo women and Hispanics. The party’s neglect hurt it badly.
Further, he insults a large segment of the electorate when he proceeds to describe half the population (women) as “bloodthirsty and predatory.”
He goes on to attack homosexuals, who want only to be recognized as fellow citizens with rights equal to those most of us enjoy.
His “news is not breaking,” it is broken.
As Abraham Lincoln stressed in his second inaugural address, that the nation proceed “with malice toward none” and “with charity for all.” That still applies today.
