Automobile warranty falls short of claims

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

I am writing this, and worry it will fall on deaf ears.

But I have to express my displeasure with a warranty I bought when buying a new car.

I was told it was the best. I should buy it because repairs are very costly.

I bought the top of the line. The salesman said it covered the vehicle bumper to bumper.

My air conditioner failed to keep the car cool. I looked at the warranty and this is what it said: Fluids coverage: We will pay for replacement of necessary fluids, oils, greases, lubricants and approved A/C gases that must be replaced in conjunction with a covered repair. This coverage does not apply to shop supplies.

Whatever that means. It sounds like, if they have the A/C fluid on hand, you have to pay up. If it was low on fluid, it had to be a leak. So wouldn’t that be a repair?

There was an easy way out, they couldn’t find a leak; they just replaced A/C gases and said the warranty didn’t cover it and charged me.

I know it’s not the end of the world, and I know I can take it out of my church tithe (a joke).

This was at a large car dealer in town. There, I feel better.
