Obama pushes plans to restrict weapons

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

Just the past year, President Obama has issued 25 executive orders dealing with gun control in America.

Why does he use this type of political maneuvering to implement his unpopular ideology on the American public? The answer is simple. The people’s representatives, the House of Representatives, will not pass legislation that would violate the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

Recently, Obama said that Congress operates at too slow a pace and hampers the implementation of his policies to “transform” America into what he thinks this country should be.

This process is called “checks and balances” and the Founding Fathers intentionally made it a slow process. They envisioned a president like Obama coming into office who would try to change America into something that most Americans do not approve of.

The checks and balance set up in the Constitution would put a stop to any one segment of government gaining power over the other two.

The question remains: Will these 25 executive orders reduce gun violence in America? Most of these new gun restrictions have little if any, effect on the misuse of guns. Obama is punishing law-abiding gun owners and ignoring the real problem with guns: the illegal use of them.

So, if the Obama policies do not address the criminal abuse of guns, why does he persist in taking away our guns? Many say that if he is successful in taking our guns, only the military and police will have legal weapons. But the criminals will still be armed.

How will the law-abiding citizen protect themselves from the abuse of government or the violence caused by the criminal element?

Another reminder is the example that disarmed Germans prior to World War II. Once Adolf Hitler had all the guns, the German people were defenseless against Hitler’s policies.
