New Castle educators aid student in need

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

As the school year comes to an end and my son prepares to graduate, I want to publicly acknowledge the New Castle Area School District for the amazing experience and top-rate education he has received.

My son became a student at New Castle halfway through his kindergarten year after a horrible experience at another school. Crista Lombardo and Debbie DeBlasio took the time to help and nurture him until he was no longer fearful of classmates, teachers and principals.

They took a scared little boy and gave him the confidence and ability to shine. For that, my husband and I are forever grateful.

Every single teacher and principal at John F. Kennedy, George Washington Intermediate and the junior-senior high school plus the administration and New Castle school district special services have been nothing short of terrific. They have all influenced and shaped my son into the honor student and well-rounded person he is today.

I read a quote by Henry Adams that said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” I believe that to be true.

When my son leaves for college in August, he will be taking a part of the New Castle Area School District and every teacher he has had with him.

I appreciate everything through the years; they are an amazing group of educators who deserve all the praise in the world.

Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

Yes, but I’m basically just thinking out loud.
No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
