Police, armed forces serve with protection

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

This past summer, I was fortunate enough to take part in a tribute and fundraising event for our wounded warriors.

Our police officers from all over the city helped to block intersections and gave us a police escort so we all arrived safely at our destination.

As I thanked God for today and others and climbed into bed, I was thinking how safe I felt. I was able to feel that way because so many of our uniformed men and women were giving up sleep to do their best to keep me safe.

All over the city they would watch while I slept. I am grateful to them and their families for their time and sacrifice.

Then I began thinking about how quiet it was and remembered our armed forces and how they protect our great country at home and abroad. Sent to all corners of the Earth, they sacrifice to keep us all safe. They do this for me without even knowing my name. We have never met each other.

I am appreciative of all who take risks every day, making sacrifices and also their loved ones who also sacrifice. I could never repay any of them, as my safety has been priceless.

Would you want to know what your pet is thinking about you?

Yes! I'd love to know what my pet is thinking.
Nah, it's probably not that interesting.
I don't know. I'm afraid of what I might find out.
