NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
Who says there is no God? Who says there is no good left in this world?
It was Sept. 21 and I was in Walmart buying groceries.
As my turn came up, I put all my groceries on the belt and the lady at check-out efficiently bagged them.
She told me my bill was $37.80. I reached in my purse to get my wallet and it was missing.
I was in shock; my heart was pounding as my head kept racing trying to think where I could have lost it. I asked the lady at check-out to give me a few minutes to locate my husband and that I would have him pay.
A tall man standing in line stepped forward and asked me how much my groceries amounted to. I told him $37.80. He handed me two $20 bills and said, “Ma’am I would like to pay for your groceries.”
At this point, I was worried and in shock and now amazed by this man’s generosity. I said to him, “It’s OK sir, I will have them set my groceries aside and look for my husband to pay for them.”
The man would not take no for an answer. He insisted I let him pay. I was so grateful and thankful; I could not believe I met a good soul in this lifetime.
I said, “God bless you sir and thank you.” Then I gave him a big hug. He replied, “I have already been blessed.” He then gave me a picture and medal of St. Therese of the child Jesus the little flower saying, “I want you to have this to keep for always. It has been blessed.”
I was in tears as I walked away, very touched and humbled by this experience.
