Authorities fail to act on public safety issues

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

I couldn’t believe my eyes the afternoon of Dec. 3, when I saw a motorized bike go past the passenger side of my vehicle in the opposite direction on East Washington Street.

The driver of the sheriff’s department vehicle that was two vehicles behind mine did nothing to stop the motorized bike that was being driven illegally and endangering the lives of other drivers and their passengers.

Apparently, the so-called proper authorities are waiting for someone to be injured or killed by the damaged utility poles located within the school zone on East Washington Street and in front of Epworth United Methodist Church on East Washington Street.

The so-called proper authorities continue to ignore the bush at the corner of the parking lot at the East Washington Street end of Cascade Street that blocks the front of two signs when in bloom, including a Watch Children sign.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw a child day-care operating adjacent to a bar within the city limits of New Castle and I continue to wonder who the so-called proper authorities were who issued these facilities a license.
