NEW CASTLE —
Editor, The News:
My favorite music is band music, Red Coat Band, Blue Coat Band and the military bands.
All the good singers I have heard in my time are dead: Jolson, Lanza, Sinatra, Dino, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Crosby.
Today’s rap, rock bands and others can’t sing. They play loud music to cover up the singing. Today’s youth don’t know what a good singer is.
The only way to find out the voice is to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Beyoncé sang it at the inauguration of the president. They said she lip-synched. But I heard it at Michael Jackson’s funeral. She sang a Catholic hymn, “Ave Maria.” She was great.
Mariah Carey also knows how to sing and has a beautiful voice. These two are the best today.
It’s too bad all the great singers are dead. Notice they all died when they were older.
Today’s rock, rap and other singers many have died because of drug overdoses.
