Flag display at Laurel honors area veterans

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

On a recent road trip through beautiful western Pennsylvania, we stopped to photograph the American flags displayed in front of Laurel High School.

The number of flags was impressive with the school and the traditional flag and flagpole in the background. A closer examination revealed that the flags were tagged with names and dates of service.

Laurel High School showed that the people of the country honor our armed forces. We appreciated the beautiful display and commend the teachers, administrators or organizations that promoted this meaningful Veterans Day tribute.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
