America’s politicians must serve as leaders

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

We love our families and this great country, but looking ahead doesn’t it gives us pause to be concerned about our grandkids and great-grandkids?

We hear from politicians who don’t have the backbone to think for themselves. It’s either what’s in it for me or vote the party lines.

I challenge folks in authority to be leaders and not followers. Many of us write our congressmen and senators. All we ask is follow the Constitution and biblical truths that this great country was founded on.

This is one reason America is in decline. God has blessed us like no other. I feel it is slowly slipping away, why?

Our government has become a thermometer instead of a thermostat. A thermostat sets the right agenda and works for the best interest of its people. A thermometer surrenders to outside forces of every wind and doctrine, mostly the loudest and the self-interest groups.

It’s sad the anti-Bible groups that are influencing our politicians, young people, are even coming into our churches.

God loves everyone, but the simple truth is He is a jealous God and He expects us to follow His truth. We have become a nation that wants to be all things to certain people.

I don’t see a D.L. Moody or a Billy Graham on the horizon that we so badly need in our nation. We do have folks in New Castle who are trying to make a difference, but it seems to be an uphill battle.
