Snow left on sidewalks creates inconvenience

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

I am writing to urge people to please remove the snow from their street sidewalks in front of their houses.

I fight my way every time it snows to pick up my son from George Washington.

I realize that it is not the greatest thing to do, but if everyone did this it would make life a lot easier for people to walk in front of our houses.

I have heard that in some places there are fines if residents do not remove the snow within 24 hours of a snowfall. Does such ordinance exist in New Castle? Is it enforced?

We should do our part and clean our walks.

Beginning tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the NHL playoffs. So, who ya got? And in how many games?

Penguins, in five games or fewer. Too much firepower for the Blue Jackets, especially if Evgeni Malkin is ready to go.
Penguins, in six or seven games. It’s a pretty even matchup on defense, but Pittsburgh will grind it out.
Blue Jackets, in five games or fewer. Sergei Bobrovsky in goal for the Blue Jackets spells trouble for the Pens.
Blue Jackets, in six or seven games. Bobrovsky gives Columbus the edge, but it won’t be easy.
