Garden of Eden story presents a dilemma

NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:

An interesting story in the Bible is the story of the Garden of Eden.

In the story it acquaints the reader with how God would come in the cool of each day to fellowship with Adam and Eve.

One day, He comes into the garden and Adam and Eve are hiding from Him. He asks them to present themselves but they are reluctant because they are now aware of their nakedness. When he questions Adam if he’s eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Adam actually blames God for his transgression by claiming that the woman that “God gave him” caused him to disobey.

God then questions Eve and she blames her disobedience on the snake for deceiving her. Neither one took responsibility for his/her action.

As a result, God placed a wall keeping them separated from the tree of eternal life. On one side of the wall was eternal life and on the other side was death.

One could not climb over, dig under or go around this wall because it is guarded by two cherubim and a flaming sword. This wall still exists today because a Holy God cannot have sin in His presence and this has presented man with quite a dilemma. How can he get to the other side of this wall so that he could again have eternal life?

The answer to this dilemma is quite simple. Man can’t do anything to remove this wall. Since God put it there only He can remove it and yet He can’t remove it because He cannot have sin in His presence.

We should think about this scenario and see if we can come up with God’s solution.

To be continued.
