NEW CASTLE — Editor, The News:
I find it duplicitous of Robert J. Miller (letter, Dec. 24) to write about Sen. Henry Clay, “mutual concession” and President Obama in the same breath.
Is Miller suggesting a duel the same way Clay challenged Humphrey Marshall on Jan. 9, 1809?
Miller deceptively blames Obama when in fact the Tea Party holds complete ownership on obstruction.
•November 2010 — “Our top political priority should be to deny the president a second term,” said Sen. Mitch McConnell. If you’re not part of the solution, you must be a Tea Partier.
•December 2010 — Obama compromises and extends the Bush tax cuts. As a reminder, Obama has only two vetoes credited to his presidency versus Mitt Romney’s 800-plus vetoes as governor.
•June 2011 — Republicans walk out on debt ceiling negotiations.
•October 2011 — Eric Cantor declares the president’s jobs bill dead on arrival. Eight days later, the Republicans vote to block debate. The only job the Republicans created in six years was the presidency for Barack Obama. Meanwhile, election results indicate Obama won a second term by 5 million votes.
When Miller states “even God compromised” I had to rub my eyes and re-read the unimaginable disrespect. It was Jesus who said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Light.” Miller must think there will be some wiggle room for him on Judgment Day.
Again, when Miller states “Obamacare’s underlying goal is to take over private-sector business,” he shows his ignorance on the function of the exchanges.
My advice to Miller is not to take himself so seriously. No one else does.
