I recently read the letter of Janice Drespling regarding the local problem of finding a veterinarian when one is needed “after hours.”

I would like to extend my sympathy to Drespling for the loss of her beloved “Lady.” Second, I would like to extend my congratulations to Dr. Sherry Ivancic-Talowsky for being the sincere, loving doctor of our pets that she is.

Yes, believe it or not, there are many of us who actually do adore our pets.

I agree that there should be an answering service for contacting one local veterinarian when most of them have closed their offices. Yes, they are entitled to regular working hours, but sometimes an emergency with a pet happens after working hours.

Several times in the past, I have gone through the problem of having a very sick pet in the evening or on a Sunday. We have had to make the long trip to the emergency clinic in Ohio as late as midnight more than once.

My toy poodle, Princess, died in my arms on the way there several years ago.

By the way, we had her to a local veterinarian that very day. It was not Ivancic-Talowsky. It’s my personal opinion that Dr. Ivancic-Talowsky is one of a kind and she is now our chosen veterinarian.

Perhaps Drespling’s letter will have the effect that will help many other pet lovers.
