LETTER: Obama needs more experience
New Castle News
Editor, The News:
As a member of the greatest generation, I appreciate that The Weather Channel recently refreshed my extreme pride of the way were, led by Franklin D. Roosevelt.
How could someone with so little background and experience as Barack Obama possibly be our commander in chief?
I was watching the evacuation of Dunkirk and seeing men like Winston Churchill and FDR and the leaders in and out of uniform with wisdom that only comes from experience and age enough to successfully lead in times of crisis.
This is not racial, but I feel Obama picked the wrong time to demand such leadership, with the world on the brink of World War III.
The youth with so little idea of our illustrious history have no knowledge of what being president and commander in chief really mean in their self-indulgent lifestyles. They do not realize how they put America on a very slippery slope.
Domestic issues come and go, as history recalls, all needing solutions. It will, and must, take experience not only politically but maturity to comprehend the consequences of the “whiz kid mentality.”
Obama has proven his rhetoric has followers. So did the Pied Piper. But Obama’s time can come when he has lived longer and he must forget the days prior to Martin Luther King.
His church and his wife seem to forget how we have been blessed by God over the years, starting with 1620.
Woodrow Wilson said, “We don’t know where we are going until we know where we have been.”
Experience and age say it all. Churchill and FDR had both, and as Paul Harvey always said, “And that’s the rest of the story.”
