Your Leisure Video: Taking a dip in local swimming pools

NEW CASTLE — Feeling the heat?

Cool off in one of Lawrence County’s swimming pools.

The county offers four different options for taking a dip — three are open to the public and one is for members and guests:

•New Wilmington Borough Pool — public

•Veterans Memorial Pool in Ellwood City — public

•Mahoning Township Pool — public

•Pearson Park Pool — open to members and their guests.

New Castle News correspondent Courtney A. Crown visited each swimming site and reveals what she’s learned in the video below:

The Lawrence County commissioners have decided to solicit proposals for the private operation of the county jail. Good idea?

Yes. If it’s a more efficient way to run the jail, I’m all for it.
No. I think there would be too many questions of liability for the county.
Not sure. The county seems to be doing a good job of running the jail now. Why break it if it’s not broken?
