Hazel Rosetta Sherman, 95, formerly of West Kenneth Avenue, died the morning of July 3, 2008, at the Overlook Medical Clinic in New Wilmington.
Born Aug. 23, 1912, in Milesburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Samuel Sinkie and Mary Ann Nevell Lucas.
She married Homer Lawrence Sherman Sr. on Dec. 12, 1931. He died July 23, 1953.
Mrs. Sherman was employed as a bartender and door guard at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Nest 455, where she was a member.
She enjoyed fishing and bowling.
She is survived by two sons, Homer L. “Spike” Sherman Jr. of North Olmstead, Ohio, and Jay Sherman of New Castle; her companion, William Drozdzal of New Castle; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sherman was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at J.Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Richard Nero will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
