Marybelle Dalessandro

New Castle News

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow for Marybelle Dalessandro of 2456 Victoria Drive, Hermitage, who passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, in the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Dalessandro was born on March 5, 1926, in New Castle, a daughter of John and Clara Belle Cover Glenn.

She graduated from New Castle High School in 1944.

In her early years she was employed by the former Shenango China.

A homemaker, she belonged to Church of the Notre Dame, Hermitage and was a member of the former Ave Maria Society.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and she especially loved quilting beautiful blankets for her family.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be sadly missed by her family, and all of those who were blessed to have known her.

Her husband, Philip A. Dalessandro, who she married on Oct. 22, 1955, survives at the residence.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Marla J. Dalessandro of Hermitage; three sons, David G. Dalessandro and his wife, Beverly of Orwell, Ohio; Gary A. Dalessandro and his wife, Cyndi of Sharpsville, and John P. Dalessandro and his wife, Jennifer of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Charlotte Jones of New Castle; Clara Mae Hardisky of Greenville, S.C. and Edna Mack of Hermitage; a brother, Richard Glenn and his wife, Jayne of Mercer; and six grandchildren, David, Susan, Cristen, Brianna, Sienna, and Lucas Dalessandro; and many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her four brothers, Clarence, John, Chester, and an infant, Francis; an infant sister, Dorthea Glenn; and a nephew, Richard D. Glenn.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Notre Dame School, 2335 Highland Road, Hermitage, Pa. 16148.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 1090 E. State St. Sharon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the Church of Notre Dame with her nephew, the Rev. Dennis G. Dalessandro, pastor of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro, Pa., and the Rev. Jeffery J. Noble, pastor of the church of Notre Dame as concelebrants.

Entombment will be in St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
