    Five Laurel teachers who live outside the Laurel School District have enrolled their children in the district. They are taking advantage of a memorandum of agreement between the district and the Laurel Education Association that took effect at the beginning of the current school year.

  • Districts awarded grants for police in schools

    Laurel and New Castle school districts have been awarded state grants for school resource and police officers. Laurel’s grant is $50,425 and New Castle’s is $53,900, according to state Sen. Elder Vogel.

    A Laurel High senior paying tribute to her grandmother raised more than $1,700 to fight cancer. Kalie Trott organized the 5K Walk/Run for Cancer at Cascade Park as her senior project. However, it also honored her grandmother, former Pulaski Road resident Mary McConahy, who died of cancer in May.
