NEW CASTLE —
The Laurel School Board has granted leaves of absence to two teachers.
Morgan Richards, a high school teacher, was granted a six- to eight-week leave beginning around Dec. 19. That will be followed by a leave under the Family Medical Leave Act during the second semester of the current school year. She plans to return by the end of April or beginning of May.
Stephanie Hennon, an elementary teacher, was granted a leave to begin after Nov. 9 and continuing through the end of the current school year. She plans to work on the first in-service day of the 2013-14 school year.
Also at its meeting this week, the board awarded a contract for $59,930.55 to Protech Asphalt Paving Inc. of New Castle. Work will include replacing sections around the elementary and junior-senior high schools.
