Laurel awards window contract

NEW CASTLE — The Laurel School Board awarded a contract to a Pittsburgh firm to replace windows at the junior/senior high school.

Gurtner Construction submitted a bid of $439,800. The district did not receive any other bids.

Windows to be replaced are on the upstairs on the north side of the building, the entire inside facing the courtyard and some in the cafeteria.

Also this week, the board:

•Awarded a contract for refuse removal to Tri-County Industries of Grove City: $13.25 per pickup at the elementary school, $13.25 per pickup at the junior/senior high school and $11.50 per pickup at the bus garage. Tri-County’s was the lower of two bids submitted.

•Approved the hiring of Laura Geiger as the elementary special education instructional aide for 5.5 hours per day, Dawn Nail as the elementary child specific personal care aide for 5.5 hours per day and Holly Wright for 20 hours per week in the cafeteria. Each will be paid $7.25 per hour.

Members of the Brady Bunch, now all in their 50s, recently reunited in front of screaming fans. Now the Rolling Stones, all in or nearing their 70s, are touring again. How old is too old to entertain?

You’re NEVER too old! Age is just a number — more power to ’em!
Geez! I didn’t realize they were THAT old! That’s, like, my grandpa’s age.
Not sure. But I do enjoy a good “Golden Girls” rerun in syndication. Now THAT’S entertainment!
