NEW CASTLE —
Notice I didn’t say easy. I said simple.
We all crave it.
A simple way to work.
A simple way to live.
Black and white. Clean. Pure. Free.
So why, then, do we always complicate our affairs?
“He who insists on being a victim is far more a prisoner of his choices than his circumstances.” — Dean O’Brien
Want to lose weight?
It’s simple: eat better, move more.
Want to develop your intelligence?
It’s simple: Read more, watch TV less.
Want to be better at your sport or craft?
It’s simple: Don’t just dream, get out of bed and practice.
Want to have better relationships?
It’s simple: Focus on giving more than receiving.
Notice I didn’t say easy.
I said simple.
“There can be no happiness if the things we believe in are different from the things we do.” — Freya Stark
Do you really believe it?
Do you really believe that you can lose weight, grow in wisdom and knowledge, improve your performance and enhance your friendships?
Is that the vision before you?
Then it’s simple: just start. Even the smallest step toward your goal means you are on your way to achieving it.
But I have a feeling you’re going to wait. I have a feeling all you see is the hard work it would take to become those things, so you tell yourself you’ll need more time to prepare.
The month is nearly half over, so you’ll put it off until Aug. 1.
Fight that feeling and get moving.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. There isn’t one. Instead, take the moment in front of you and MAKE it perfect.
“The average man doesn’t want to be free. He wants to be safe.” — H.L. Mencken
