Tim Kolodziej: You can choose to read this blog — or not

NEW CASTLE — “The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” — Henry David Thoreau

You gonna eat THAT?

It’s your call, you know.

Mine, too.

Life, I’m learning, is pretty much a series of choices.

Every day.

Every way.

You and I decide, for the most part, how today will go.

You can say yes. Or you can say no. The beauty of it is YOU get to say it.

The tough part: your choices continue to grow. More and more television channels are added daily. New social media platforms are springing up all over the place. Foods that were healthy yesterday are deadly tomorrow. You can drain your life savings with the simple click of a mouse.

It’s never been so easy to make bad choices.

But take heart. It’s just as easy to make good ones.

It’s your call, you know.

You are not born a winner. You are not born a loser. You are born a chooser.

Maybe Magic, Michael, Kobe or LeBron has influenced your game.

Maybe Adam Levine or Christiano Ronaldo influenced you to get a “Fohawk.”

Maybe Michael Phelps or Ryan Lochte or Missy Franklin influenced you to jump in the pool.

Maybe Usain Bolt got you off the couch and on to the track.

Maybe Apple influenced you to spend hundreds more on an iPad than a PC.

Maybe. Or maybe not.

They all have the platform, the notoriety or the money to INFLUENCE you.

But you still hold the power of choice.

It’s your call, you know.

It is not your abilities that show who you really are. It is your choices.

What you do today is what you will choose to do. It’s what you consider to be a priority. It’s what you desire.

So ...

•Will you train your body in some way? Or will you sit this one out. You know, just today.

•Who will you hang out with? Will you seek out friends and mentors who keep you grounded, accountable and mutually nourished? Or will you settle for who’s free or who has access to a car?

•Will you read and feed your brain wisdom and knowledge? Or will you just turn on the TV?

•Will you use words that enourage and affirm? Or will you criticize, gossip and complain?

•Will you be an energizer? Or will you suck the life out of every room you enter?

It’s your call, you know.

Choose wisely.

Your influence is greater than you may realize.
