Kali Davies-Anderson: Grocery store trip a lesson in judgment
Most of the time I have my oldest daughter with me, but yesterday I had an appointment before heading to the store. So I was alone.
Kali Davies-Anderson: I won’t even think about bagging my popcorn obsession
I made a realization about a month ago that has haunted me ever since. I am addicted to popcorn. Sometimes I daydream about my nightly bag of popcorn.
Kali Davies-Anderson: The life of ‘Vi’ and my hopes for her future
On Sunday, my oldest daughter will turn 2. When Violet was first born everyone kept telling me to cherish the moments, because they would go by so quickly.
Kali Davies-Anderson: If I were bullied today, I would have much more to say
Yesterday marked the first day of classes for the New Castle Area School District. In light of this, I would like to bring some awareness to a subject that is close to my heart. As the school buses fill, the bells ring and classes begin, an unfortunate event is also occurring. Kids are getting teased and bullied.
Kali Davies-Anderson: A not so itsy-bitsy battle with a spider
As a mother, I have the innate ability to push through any circumstance, good or bad, to keep my children safe. I would walk on hot coals for my children. I would slay dragons. I would brave the darkest of forests. (Can you tell that I have watched the move “Shrek” 47 times since Sunday?)
Kali Davies-Anderson: Happy birthday to my husband, who — whew! — I nearly let get away
As I write this blog, today is my husband’s birthday. Let’s just say it is one of several consecutive 29th birthdays for Erik. (Use your imaginations there.) I met Erik in August 2009. I rejected his suggestions of going out for a drink, more than once, a month later.
Kali Davies-Anderson: The transformation is happening...I'm turning into my mother
For the first 25 years of my life I was the opposite of a planner. I was a procrastinator, flying by the seat of my adolescent skinny jeans, impulsive and often irrational. If I were going to go somewhere, I decided 20 minutes before.
Kali Davies-Anderson: Shh, try not to wake the...nevermind
I have not always been the best sleeper in the world, but I have NEVER experienced such unrelenting fatigue as I have as the mother of a newborn. In the days and weeks following both of my daughter’s arrivals I have had to go on auto-pilot and have considered it a modern miracle that in my constant state of fatigue I have managed to not burn the house down, feed my toddler cat food as a snack or start the dryer with no clothing In it (okay, I may have done this, but only a few times).
Kali Davies-Anderson: Summer carries warm memories — so why are today’s kids cool to it?
Today is July 23 and summer is in full swing. Summertime means very little to most adults, aside from those in the teaching profession, whom the rest of the world’s working class secretly hate.
Kali Davies-Anderson: Baby’s baptism wasn’t SUPPOSED to be funny, but ...
My daughter Ivy turned 3 months old on July 14. She was baptized on the same day. I experience some level of anxiety each and every time that I have to stand in front of the church.
