Two cleared in meth lab case
Charges against two people accused of operating a methamphetamine lab have been dropped. Several of the charges against a third person were held for court.

Woman accused of falsely collecting food benefits
A New Castle woman is facing charges for allegedly falsely claiming she was unemployed while receiving food benefits. The Pennsylvania Office of Inspector General charged Brittany Renee Monoco, 29, of 14 E. Maple St. with a violation of the state public welfare code.
Man acquitted of bar shooting charges
A West Side man was acquitted of all charges in a South Side bar shooting. Jauan Marcus Searcy, 31, of 912 McCleary Ave. had been accused of shooting Arlen Brewer in the March 7 incident.
Man whose car hit house waives hearing
A man whose car hit a house on Raymond Street has waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Justin Travis Miller, 20, of 927 Temple Ave., is facing more than a dozen charges including multiple traffic violations in connection with the accident, which occurred while he allegedly was dodging a traffic stop by New Castle police.
Nurse waives hearing on drug charge
A nurse accused of stealing narcotics from Jameson Hospital’s maternity ward has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.
Telemarketing firm faces state lawsuit
The Pennsylvania attorney general’s office has filed a lawsuit against a Boardman, Ohio, telemarketing firm. The legal action targets Encore Music Productions, its agents and the fraternal organizations on whose behalf it solicited charitable donations for firefighter organizations.
