NEW CASTLE — A Beaver County constable accused of bilking several Amish families in Mercer and Lawrence counties has waived charges to court.

Glenn Young Jr., 63, of 975 Route 68, New Brighton, is charged with one count each of theft by deception and official oppression.

According to court papers, he is said to have obtained more than $2,450 from various Amish families of Lawrence and Mercer counties by creating the false impression that the families were to pay fines for a criminal event. No charges or police investigation ever occurred.

Documents state that Young deceived the victims by wearing his constable uniform when collecting “fines,” and he had no authority to do.
